Our friends at Independent Living in Scotland are holding a Disability Summit on Housing on 2nd December on the eve of United Nations International Disabled Peoples Day 2016. They want as many disabled people as possible to attend to ensure that the voices of disabled people are heard. A report from the summit is going to the ministers at Scottish Government and it is planned for the Minister for Social Security and Minister for Housing to attend. We will be running a workshop on the importance of independent housing information and advice and asking for feedback on experiences when the right housing in the right place at the right time can lead to independence - and of course when it doesn't work out this way, what the impact is.
