Claire from our Self Directed Support project is attending the World Congress on Disability in Edinburgh today, spreading the word about our services.  Showing on our laptop display - Shona, one of the SDS Volunteer Peer Support Mentors telling how she directs her own support.  If you are interested to know more, please get in touch with us.  There is another event taking place at Rothes Halls in early November where individuals living with disability can give their opinion and share their experiences of SDS (or trying to get SDS!) so please give us a ring if you are interested in going - we have several places available! SDSScotland really want to hear your views!

We are all excited getting ready for the World Congress on Disability being held in Edinburgh next week.  Claire and Andy will be attending representing our work with SDS and Tracy from DPHS along with Ian one of our Board members will also be in attendance and ensuring our housing work is also highlighted to attendees.  It looks like being a very high profile event so we look forward to sharing our experiences of SDS and Housing from Fife and also learning from others from across the country, Europe and beyond about what is working for them.  We look forward to working alongside Inclusion Scotland, People First and SDS Scotland at our joint stalls!

Our SDS project are holding open meetings in a variety of venues across Fife so you can find out more about directing your own support.  Come join us for a cuppa and a chat so Andy and Claire can answer any questions you may have and you can also meet one of our volunteer peer support mentors - someone who is managing their own (or a family member's) support through SDS.  They'll be able to tell you how it worked for them and the difference it has made to their lives:
CUPAR:  Wed 19th Oct, 2 - 330pm Age Concern Hall, Provost Wynd, Cupar, KY15 5HE
GLENROTHES:  Fri 28th Oct, 2-330pm Lomond Centre, Woodside Way, Glenrothes, KY7 5RA
DUNFERMLINE:  Fri 11th Nov, 2-330pm Holiday Inn Express, Halbeath Road, Dunfermline, Ky11 8JY
If you are interested in coming please give us a wee ring at the office so we can plan ahead (catering etc!) - 01592 803280.  If you can't make it but you are interested in having a chat anyway just let us know!
