WINNERS OF INNOVATION AWARD 2014!

9/25/2014

We are delighted to announce that DPHS(F) has won the Innovation Award for its Housing Mentors 55+ Project. With thanks to Janice and especially to all the volunteers - what a wonderful night of celebration it was!  This is a lovely recognition of the kindness of everyone who gives their time to share their stories in a variety of ways to help other people.  We always knew you were doing great things....but it is absolutely lovely for this to be recognised with such a prestigious Award.  Thank you to all at Fife Voluntary Action, the sponsors and the Old Course Hotel staff who made such a fuss of volunteers all night long.  A shout out too to David Cameron (as he calls himself:  the real David Cameron) who made the night such fun with his commentary.  As well as the Innovation Award, DPHS(F) was also short listed in the category of Health & Inequalities and was Runner Up!

We are happy to say that Stefan will be staying with us for another 6 months as Resource Admin Officer which helps us greatly.
Stefan originally joined us via Community Jobs Scotland to learn about housing & working in the third sector.  We are very pleased that he's agreed to stay with us to help us, and our customers, at this busy time.

Have Your Say on Housing in Fife!

9/17/2014

We urge all of our customers to complete this survey so that Fife Council and its housing partners are aware of the shortage of housing for those looking for housing with particular features:  ground floor; no steps; wheelchair accessible etc.

This is a helpful survey by Fife Council where you can have your say on future housing in Fife.  There are sections that ask about a full range of disability issues including adaptation and being a carer.  There are also boxes where you can put in information you think is pertinent.  Representatives from DPHS(F) will be attending public sessions in Kirkcaldy, Dunfermline and Cupar to put over the case for a variety of housing types including an aspirational target of 10% new builds to be fully wheelchair accessible due to the extreme shortage of this house type.

Fife Council:  Local Housing Strategy 2015 - 2020
The Fife Housing Partnership is developing a new Local Housing Strategy for 2015-2020 to be in place by April 2015.

The aim of the strategy is ‘to provide housing choices for people in Fife’.

This will build on the successes of two previous five-year strategies, particularly in delivering new affordable housing, addressing homelessness and reducing fuel poverty…..but we know we need to do more.

To help us achieve our aim we would like to find out your views on housing in Fife – the things you like, don’t like, and any suggestions on how we can make housing better.

Your views matter – by working together we can focus on some of the main housing and related issues to achieve real improvement within our communities.

Here is the link to the survey here:
